The MATE ROV World Championships brings together top ROV teams around the globe for a 3-day underwater robotics competition. The 2025 MATE ROV World Championships were held in Alpena, Michigan, at Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary--right next to Lake Huron!
UWROV is proud to announce that we have won 3 awards this year: The Sharkpedo Legacy Innovation Award, 2025 Engineering Presentation World Champions, and 2025 Technical Documentation World Champions!!
UWROV was the sole recipient of the Sharkpedo Legacy Innovation Award—an award given to a team that portrays outstanding innovation and originality. UWROV's specialized modular manipulator system, as well as our creative modular ballasting system that utilizes ping pong balls for buoyancy, impressed judges by thinking outside the box.
Not only this, UWROV was presented as the 2025 Technical Documentation World Champions with a monumental score of 99 points obtained with hours upon hours of technical writing about our ROV and associated systems!
Last but not least, with a staggering score of 100, UWROV became the 2025 Engineering Presentation World Champions!! During the presentation, we were able to above and beyond when sharing our ROV's design, applications to real-world scenarios, team organization, and important safety policies.
UWROV is beyond proud of its accomplishments both inside and outside of the competition. Entering the 2025-2026 season, we are dedicated to continue improving, iterating, and achieving! Big thank you to all who have supported us, near and far—we are beyond grateful for all of the support from our community!
